The influence campaign

Strengthen your organisation’s resilience against malign information influence through the Influence Campaign card game – an exercise that helps you to understand and manage influence campaigns.

In the exercise, participants analyse an influence campaign consisting of a series of events. The participants’ task is to identify the influence tactics that have been used and propose appropriate countermeasures. The exercise ends with a common discussion of lessons learned and future development.

The exercise is conducted in groups of two to four people and takes about 60 minutes to complete.

Through the exercise, participants can improve their understanding of:

  • What an influence campaign involves.
  • The influence tactics that foreign powers may perceivably use.
  • How to counteract malign information influence within an organisation.
  • How influence tactics can shape or amplify strategic narratives.

While the card game can be played without any prior knowledge, we suggest that you read about the tools available in the Capability Platform to enhance learning during the exercise.

In this film, we present the card game step by step. Watching the tutorial will provide you with a good understanding of how you can conduct the exercise independently in your team.
